Advisor to International Students & Scholars: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Desirable Qualification: <\/strong>Ph.D. in Science\/Engineering or Master\u2019s degree in Science\/Engineering<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Desirable Requirements:<\/strong>1-2 years of work\nexperience in similar role<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Age limit:   <\/strong>Preferably below\n50 years<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salary:<\/strong>  The salary\nwill be fixed between Rs. 60,000\/- to Rs. 1,00,000\/- per month depending on\nqualifications and experience, and suitability of the candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roles\/Responsibilities: <\/strong> The\nAdvisor to International Students & Scholars at IISc will be based at\nOffice of International Relations (OIR), who will help students and scholars in\ntheir program applications, Visa process & its extension, help to maintain\nthe Visa status, campus accommodation and admission formalities. He\/she will\nalso help students\/scholars to assess the course programs, recognize their\nacademic strengths and choose appropriate course of action. He\/she will work\nclosely with IISc faculty members and other institute administrators to stay\nup-to-date on program changes. The advisor will work similar to a guidance\ncounsellor to serve as an educational as well as campus resource to the\nstudents\/scholars. He\/She will also keep track of international student\/scholar\napplications and help in answering queries from prospective international students,\nwho wish to apply for various academic\/research programs at IISc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nadvisor will be responsible for providing educational guidance and\nadministrative assistance to international students\/scholars by planning\nschedules, recommending courses and determining appropriate education solutions\nfor different types of students\/scholars. He\/she must also follow through and\ntrack the advancement of students\/scholars. Additionally, he\/she must provide\ncase management to students\/scholars, who do not meet local educational\nrequirements and provide assistance for at-risk students. Since the work\ninvolves closely working with a variety of students\/scholars, he\/she must be\nwilling to help others and have strong communication skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nadvisor needs to help maintain students\/scholars legal immigration status,\nprovide appropriate documentation and coordinate between various units of IISc\nincluding Foreigners Regional Registration. The advisor will also play a\ncritical role in terms of holding continuous orientation sessions for\nstudents\/scholars and largely manage their integration into IISc campus life.\nThe advisor should be good at multi-tasking and have to handle multiple\nassignments at the same time. Also, the role will demand managing OIR personnel\nincluding administrative staff and any other duties as assigned by the Chair,\nOIR from time to time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\ninitial appointment will be for one year and will be extended based on\nperformance and mutual interest. The selection will be based on interview by a\ncommittee after shortlisting of received applications and the decision of\nselection committee will be final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nselection will be based on interview by a committee after shortlisting of\nreceived applications and the decision of selection committee is final and\nbinding. The candidate has to appear for interview and the likely date of\ninterview will be in the month of September of 2020 and likely start date is\nOctober 1, 2020. Merely having desirable\/minimum qualifications may not entitle\nthe candidate for shortlisting for interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
