The Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programme at the Indian Institute of Science offers a rigorous, industry-relevant undergraduate education grounded in science, engineering, and computation. ► Eligibility:  

Candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria, including performance in the Class 12 or equivalent examination, as prescribed in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) Business Rules for admission to IITs applicable for the relevant academic year.  

► Selection: 
• Admissions to all B.Tech programmes shall be conducted through JoSAA 2026.

• It is mandatory for the candidates to register, fill choices through the official JoSAA 2026 online portal for admission to B.Tech programs at IISc.

• No separate application is required to be submitted on the IISc admission portal for B.Tech admissions.

1.What B.tech Programs are offered at IISc 

IISc currently offers four B.Tech programmes:

  • Mathematics and Computing — offered since Academic Year 2022–23
  • Aerospace Engineering — new from Academic Year 2026–27
  • Mechanics and Computing — new from Academic Year 2026–27
  • Materials Science and Engineering — new from Academic Year 2026–27

2. What is the duration of the B.Tech. program? 

The duration of the program is four years organized into eight semesters.
The programme is structured to provide a balanced curriculum with core courses, soft-core/elective courses, humanities, and project/research opportunities in the final year.  

3. Which are the entry channels for admission to the B.Tech. program?

  Admissions to all B.Tech programmes shall be conducted through JoSAA 2026. It is mandatory for the candidates to register, fill choices through the official JoSAA 2026 online portal for admission to B.Tech programs at IISc. No separate application is required to be submitted on the IISc admission portal for B.Tech admissions.

4. What is the cut-off score for JEE Advanced (Foreign Nationals) in B.tech Program for Math and Comuting at IISc for the academic year AY 2025-26? 

 The JEE Advanced cut-off is 8561

Yes, a 20 % Supernumerary Quota over and above the approved intake for the program will be provided to female candidate

7. What are the different opportunities available to graduates from the B. Tech. Program?

  IISc B.Tech graduates have excellent placement opportunities through the Office of Career Counselling and Placement (OCCAP). The programmes are designed to enable graduates to pursue high-quality placements in leading technology organisations. 9. What are the hostel and mess facilities at IISc? Where will B.Tech students be housed?

Yes, on-campus hostel accommodation is available for all B.Tech students at IISc. 11. Are foreign national candidates eligible for appearing in JEE(Advanced) 2026?

The foreign national candidates, at the time of registering for JEE (Advanced) 2026 are NOT required to write JEE (Main) 2026 and may register for JEE (Advanced) 2026 directly subject to fulfilment of other eligibility criteria. for further details refer to https://jeeadv.ac.in/foreign.html).

12. Shall a foreign national will be entitled to the benefit of reservation under GEN/EWS/OBC/SC/ST category?

As an international or OCI/PIO (F) candidate, you will NOT be entitled to the benefit of reservation under GEN-EWS/OBC/SC/ST category for the allocation of seats or in any other benefits come in future.

13. Is there an installment payment option for this program?

Yes, fees can be paid in three installments:

  • Instalment I: 35% of the total fee
  • Instalment II: 35% of the total fee
  • Instalment III: 30% of the total fee

Due dates for each instalment will be notified in due course.
